What is our Why?

1. To Increase Flexibility:

The component of flexibility is commonly overshadowed by the muscular strength and aerobic capacity components, but muscles that lack elasticity and resiliency are more susceptible to injury. Thus, each day begins with static stretching and dynamic warm-up.

2. To Improve Muscular Strength and Endurance:

Muscular endurance refers to the ability of an individual to contract a skeletal muscle numerous times over a long period of time, while muscular strength is defined as the ability of a muscle to contract with great force one time. The benefits derived from our strength and conditioning program: decreased potential for injury; increased muscular strength, power, and endurance; improved speed, quickness, and vertical jump; as well as added confidence in one's self.

3. To Enhance Cardiovascular Fitness:

Defined as the ability of the heart, lungs and arteries to supply fresh oxygenated blood to the muscles of the body. Students will participate in various activities to enhance cardiovascular fitness.

4. To Understand the Benefits of Nutrition:

Having enough energy to practice and compete is a primary concern of any athlete who wants to become a better athlete. Usually a decrease in performance can be traced to improper nutrition. Therefore, what an athlete eats determines how energy is supplied to the body before workouts and practices. After a workout or practice, an athlete should replenish all the nutrients that have been utilized to speed up recovery.
