Grading Policy

Possible Points:

Participation (+10 Points)

  • The student may earn up to 10 participation points daily. Therefore, regular class attendance is very important!

  • "Game day" student-athletes are expected to fully participate. However, student-teacher communication is highly encouraged to ensure peak performance.

Point Deductions:

Excused Absences (-10 points)

  • However, students have the opportunity to negate the absence(s) by making up the work-out during a study hall, in the morning, or after school. It is the student’s responsibility to sign-in properly and get signed-off for full credit.

  • Typically, students missing an "activity/fitness day" will spin/cycle for 20 minutes (heart rate should be 140 bpm or above). Students missing a "weight room" work out are to make up the exercises and reps from his or her booklet.

  • Special arrangements may need to be arranged between the teacher and student for long-term absences and/or injuries.

  • Please Note: The student has one week to make-up an absence. Stockpiling absences may hinder full credit recovery.

Tardy (-1 to 3 points)

  • Students are expected to be in the locker room before the tardy bell, changed out, and ready to warm-up 5 minutes later.

Truancy (-10 to 20 points)

  • This includes unexcused absences (make-up work will possibly double) as well as elopement (aka ducking out of class early). Students are expected to remain outside their respective locker room until the passing bell sounds after changing back.

Improper Dress w/Participation (-5 points)

  • Students are required to wear non-marking athletic shoes (laces tied), gym shorts and a T-shirt.

  • No cut-off shirts, sports bras, etc. Keep it school appropriate, please.

  • Please Note: Headphones, earbuds and cellphones are not permitted during class. The only exception to this rule is use of the TeamBuildr app.

No Dress (-10 points)

  • Failure to dress properly results in a zero for the day. After the third offense, the principal and parents will be notified.

Lack of Participation (-1 to -10 points)

  • Students are expected to become involved in all activities and put forth a tremendous effort day in and day out. Following “percentage charts” and/or utilizing heart rate monitors help to enforce this very important aspect of training like a champion.

Inappropriate Behavior (-1 to -10 points)

  • Students are expected to conduct themselves in a respectful manner at all times (The Titan Way). Violating this trust may result in serious point deductions. For example, foul language or the mistreatment of equipment may result in the loss of 5 or more points.
